KALUS WINS WPRI DEBATE

WARWICK, RI – Today, Matthew Hanrahan, spokesman for Ashley Kalus’ campaign for governor, released the below statement following last night’s WPRI debate.

Hanrahan said, “Ashley Kalus was the clear winner of last night’s debate. While she offered substantive policy solutions to the state’s most pressing issues, No Plan Dan fell flat, leaving voters wondering how he intends to move our state forward. The governor attempted to take credit for other leaders’ successes, dodged questions, and lied to the people of Rhode Island. Considering he has no record of success to run on, this came as no surprise. Dan McKee is nothing more than a corrupt, failed career politician who will do anything to win reelection. Desperate campaigns like his do desperate things when they’re on the ropes, and that’s what we saw last night.

“Last night, Dan McKee, for the first time, admitted that: 1) he will appeal the toll decision; and 2) students’ RICAS test scores are going to be low. Make no mistake about it – Dan McKee will toll cars, which is why he is appealing this decision. He also stood behind his sixty million dollar taxpayer investment for the Pawtucket Soccer Stadium and his sixty thousand dollar raises for his political appointees, who already make over one hundred thousand dollars. He will do anything to buy this election.

“Ashley Kalus will reform our broken education system, lower the income and sales tax to help keep more money in people’s pockets, end corporate welfare for projects like the Pawtucket Soccer Stadium, build affordable housing, and roll back the 47% electricity rate hike. Voters have a choice to make this year. Do we continue with constant excuses, or fix our problems? Do we harp on our failures, or build upon our strengths? Do we continue old partisan fights, or band together for all of Rhode Island? The choice is clear – Ashley Kalus is the fighter we need to tackle the serious problems plaguing our state. She is, hands down, the right choice to lead Rhode Island into the future.”
