WARWICK, RI – Ashley Kalus, the Republican nominee for governor, released the below statement following Governor McKee’s failure to share public records related to the FBI’s investigation into his conduct.
“For far too long this state has been plagued by corrupt politicians like Dan McKee who care more about giving deals to their friends than serving the people with integrity and transparency,” Kalus said. “The governor’s failure to release records related to the FBI’s investigation into his administration begs the question — what is he hiding?
“Rhode Islanders deserve leaders who follow the rule of law — no exceptions. Dan McKee is claiming that Rhode Islanders do not have the right to know if the FBI has issued a subpoena seeking information on the ILO contract. I immediately call on Governor McKee to fulfill the public records requests made by multiple news outlets and comply with the Open Records Act. The people have already lost faith in their government, and the distrust grows each day Dan McKee fails to answer questions regarding his alleged criminal acts.”
